NYPD's Emergency Service Unit eventually climbed up to bring both climbers into custody.
Both were charged with multiple felonies, including burglary, reckless endangerment, and criminal trespass, among other counts. They were arraigned the following day and released under supervised release. Their attorney has argued that prosecutors overcharged the case, calling the stunt, at its core, "a message of love." A building spokesperson confirmed the climb was unauthorized but said there was no danger posed to tenants or visitors inside the building.
